The Vessel Type is a man-made object designed to adapt to specific topographies and conditions. It responds to local environmental and social challenges while addressing broader regional issues, such as water shortages, through an expandable network composed of such nodes.
The design approach focuses on addressing the site’s unique challenges through three integrated
strategies. First, the topography plays a crucial role by linking the lowest points of the site to manage water flow more effectively. This ensures that excess water can be directed away from vulnerable areas, reducing the risk of flooding. In response to the site’s seasonal variations, rainfall is carefully managed by creating barriers that not only mitigate flooding but also collect water during the wet season. This collected water is stored and can be utilized during the dry season, providing a sustainable solution for the community’s water needs. Lastly, the housing is organized using a radial layout, which divides the site into three distinct zones: residential, water management, and agricultural. This layout helps optimize the use of space while ensuring that each zone serves a specific purpose in supporting the well-being of the inhabitants. Together, these strategies create a resilient and adaptive environment that addresses both the site’s climatic challenges and the needs of the community.
